  • UW campus winter parking rules in effect Nov. 15

    From 2-6 a.m., parking is not allowed or restricted in certain lots regardless of weather conditions. The parking restrictions help facilitate snow removal. Please report snowy, slippery or icy conditions in campus parking lots to Transportation Services. Visit transportation.wisc.edu for details.

  • Learning module introduces employees to data governance and responsible use

    Data@UW ‒ Data Governance and Responsible Use is a new, interactive learning module designed to introduce all UW–Madison employees to institutional data and their individual responsibilities. This 30-minute, self-paced module shares crucial steps to maintain the security of the institutional data we collect and use every day. This data includes social security numbers, benefits elections, financial data, cybersecurity information, student records, and, for many, increased access to these data in Workday. The course is hosted in Workday and requires a NetID to register.

  • Virtual Replay: Administrative Professionals Conference

    The most popular sessions from the Administrative Professionals Conference that took place in April 2026 will be offered again as a Virtual Replay on Thursday, Dec. 4, at no cost to UW–Madison employees. The Virtual Replay is designed for employees who are eager to grow professionally across a wide range of topics, including career management, inclusive excellence, leadership, personal development and workplace skills, and well-being. All sessions will be livestreamed through Webex Events. Register to secure your participation.

  • Volunteer Policy updated

    UW–Madison has updated its Volunteer Policy (UW-5001), which outlines who qualifies as a University Volunteer, the types of volunteer roles, and the safeguards in place to ensure safe, ethical, and effective service. If you work with volunteers or want to learn more, consider joining the Volunteer Managers Community of Practice to connect with peers, share resources, and stay informed.

  • Webinar helps employees reduce caregiver stress

    LifeMatters and the Employee Assistance Office are offering a virtual webinar, Pathways to Hearing Self and Others, on Tuesday, Nov. 25, noon-1 p.m. via Zoom. Participants will learn how to identify signs of caregiver stress and how to care for themselves while also caring for others. The webinar is offered at no cost to all UW–Madison employees.

  • Three free flu vaccine clinics on campus remain

    There is still time to get a flu vaccine on campus. University Health Services (UHS) is offering free flu vaccine clinics in a variety of campus locations on Nov. 5, Nov. 19, and Dec. 2. All vaccine clinics run from 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Employees and students can receive a no-cost flu vaccine, even if they don’t have proof of health insurance or if their health insurance does not cover it. Employees should bring their Wiscard and health insurance card or health insurance information to their appointments. Register for an appointment at go.wisc.edu/vaccine. COVID-19 vaccines will also be available; information about COVID-19 vaccine eligibility is provided on the registration web page.

  • Go Big Read invites suggestions for 2026‒2027 book

    UW–Madison’s Go Big Read program is seeking book suggestions for the 2026‒2027 academic year. Book suggestions can be made on the Go Big Read website through Nov. 19. After the book nomination period ends, a committee will review and discuss the nominated books before making recommendations to Chancellor Jennifer L. Mnookin, who will make the final selection for the 2026-2027 Go Big Read.

  • Webinar focuses on the mental and emotional aspects of retirement

    LifeMatters and the Employee Assistance Office, in partnership with Madison Benefits Services, are offering a one-hour webinar, Transition to Retirement: Preparing Mentally and Emotionally, on Nov. 19 and Dec. 10. Participants will learn about the phases of retirement; mental preparation; hazards and opportunities; and reaching a rewarding retirement.   • Enroll in annual benefits by Oct. 31

    The Benefits Open Enrollment period ends this Friday, Oct. 31, at 4:30 p.m. This is the only time you can make changes to certain benefits without having an eligible life event or qualifying employment change during the year. In addition, certain benefits you may be enrolled in require action each year. Employees should choose their 2026 benefits through Workday. Find helpful information about benefits enrollment at benefits.wisc.edu/2026.
