Gordon Dining & Event Center Renovation

Last week, University Housing began a 7-month renovation of the Gordon Dining & Event Center to expand seating capacity, improve customer flow, and upgrade the dish room. This will include a remodel of the Flamingo Run convenience store and changes to some entrances. Gordon will remain open through the spring semester, but customers may notice some construction noise and disruption, and the market will temporarily switch to paper plates and disposables while the dish room is offline. The project is expected to be completed before students arrive for the fall 2026 semester.

Multiple events to affect campus travel week of August 24

Some campus roadways will be one-way only and used primarily for residence hall move-in traffic August 24–27. On August 28, thousands of visitors are expected for Thursday evening Badger football. Ongoing construction projects will also affect travel for pedestrians, bikes, buses, and motorists as the fall semester begins. Commuters are advised to expect delays and plan ahead. Highland Avenue project update: Some roadways reopening

Travelers heading toward the west campus area can expect relief as some roadways begin to reopen. Highland Avenue traffic lanes reopened July 22, and the westbound Campus Drive off-ramp to Highland will reopen the week of July 28. Westbound Campus Drive on- and off-ramps and a section of Highland Avenue will be closed when the Madison Metropolitan Sewerage District’s Highland Avenue sewer project enters stage two. The closures are planned for June 30 through mid-July. West campus area travel will be heavily impacted. Motorists should plan an alternate route and allow for extra travel time.
