First round of parking applications closes June 2

Transportation Services is accepting parking permit applications for the upcoming parking year (Sept. 1, 2023–Aug. 31, 2024). Apply by June 2 for first-round consideration for base lot (including reduced cost), Flex, UW Accessible, park and ride, and business alternate permits. First-round offers will be sent the week of July 10. Additional application rounds for these permit types are planned in late July and early August. Bus passes and other parking options will be available for purchase Aug. 1. Find details at transportation.wisc.edu.

Workday Workthrough to focus on learning management

When Workday goes live at every UW System institution in 2024, UW‒Madison employees will manage their professional growth in the new Workday learning management system. The virtual Workday Walkthrough on Thursday, June 8, 3‒4 p.m., will provide an overview and demonstration of this functionality. Workday Walkthroughs are an introduction to Workday; they are not training. Training will begin in 2024. Rec Well offers free intramural sports for staff

Faculty and staff are invited to join a summer league sponsored by Rec Well. UW‒Madison employees can play in sports such as basketball, kickball, trivia, and volleyball. Activities will begin as soon as mid-June. These leagues are open to all; a Rec Well membership is not required.

Help students flourish at summer teaching workshop

UW–Madison co-developed the Art and Science of Human Flourishing, an innovative undergraduate course to support students with self-awareness, focus, social connectivity, and purpose in life. A workshop will be offered the week of June 19 for faculty, graduate students, and staff who have interest in co-teaching the course, integrating elements of it into existing courses, or bringing concepts of flourishing into their work with students outside the classroom. Registration closes June 8. Some scholarship funds are available.

2023 Wisconsin Welcome Guide accepting submissions

Campus units, student organizations, and community groups have an early opportunity to introduce their organizations to incoming students by submitting a program for Fall 2023 Wisconsin Welcome, hosted by the Center for the First-Year Experience within Student Affairs. Events are shared with students via the Guidebook calendar and app. Please submit your event details for consideration by June 15.
