Winter parking rules are in effect from Nov. 15 through March 15. The rules apply from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. every day, and include: no parking on Observatory Drive or Linden Drive; and restricted parking in lots 16, 34, 40, 51 and 54. Please park in designated rows (marked by the "Shovelin' Bucky" signs); top levels of ramps may be blocked off to better facilitate snow removal. With cold weather and icy conditions just around the corner, the Office of Human Resources reminds all employees of campus inclement weather guidelines. The chancellor is responsible for determining if classes will be canceled or postponed or some university services suspended due to inclement weather. The chancellor’s decisions will be based on the safety and welfare of students, faculty and staff. University Housing's dining locations are closed on Thursday for Thanksgiving, and they have limited hours for the rest of the weekend. Hours are listed here. Dining locations will resume regular hours on Monday.  

Wayne Guthrie, senior vice president, staff operations, for the Arthritis Foundation in Atlanta, has been named UW–Madison’s chief human resources officer. Guthrie has a wide range of human resources and leadership experience in higher education, nonprofit and private organizations, Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration Laurent Heller said in announcing the appointment. Guthrie will start his new role on Jan. 9.
