The Employee Career Counseling Program gives employees the skills to manage, develop, and plan their careers at UW‒Madison. One-on-one, confidential counseling can help participants develop self-awareness, explore career choices, set goals, and develop an action plan. Employees who are ready for their next opportunity or who are experiencing career challenges of any kind can benefit from career counseling. This late-night event recognizes the hard work and contributions of UW–Madison’s second- and third-shift employees. Guests will be served Babcock ice cream; there will also be gluten-free, gelatin-free, dairy-free, and sugar-free options available. Employees may arrive at any time during the event. Employees can attend during work hours without loss of pay. Employees who plan to attend should tell their supervisor. For more information, including transportation and parking tips, visit go.wisc.edu/66c421.  |  |  |  | Upcoming sessions for prospective volunteer tutorsThe Volunteer Tutoring Program at UW‒Madison matches employees with tutors who provide one-on-one instruction in conversation practice, basic English skills for reading and writing, or learning about the U.S. culture. Tutors receive training and may choose to earn an online Tutor Training Certificate. Informational sessions about becoming a tutor will be held online via Zoom on August 22, August 31, and September 6. Advance registration is not required, and there is no obligation to volunteer after attending. UW‒Madison employees, students, and community members are all welcome to volunteer.  |  |  |  | Next Workday Walkthrough features banking and settlementWhen Workday goes live at every UW System institution in July 2024, banking and settlement will be centralized in Workday. The virtual Workday Walkthrough on Thursday, August 10, 3‒4 p.m., will provide an overview and demonstration of this functionality. Workday Walkthroughs are an introduction to Workday; they are not training. Training will begin in 2024.
