To limit the effects of the flu on the campus community, UHS hosts employee flu shot clinics starting Sept. 13. No appointment is needed; see the schedule here or call 608-265-5600. Clinics are not open to spouses/partners or children. Bring your health insurance card. If you have Dean Care, Group Health Cooperative, Physicians Plus or Unity, payment will be processed directly to your health insurance provider. Otherwise, there will be a $31 fee for the shot (payable by cash, check, Visa or MasterCard). | |  | | Attend the 'Know Your Numbers' biometric screening
The "Know Your Numbers" free biometric screening is available to employees and their spouses/domestic partners enrolled in the State of Wisconsin group health insurance program as part of the $150 Well Wisconsin incentive. Fasting (8-12 hours prior to the screening) is not required for screening participation, but may provide more accurate results. The screening will measure body mass index, blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol and waist measurement. Events are: Sept. 28 at the College of Engineering; Oct. 4 at Union South; Oct. 6 at the Social Sciences Building; Oct. 13 at Memorial Library; Oct. 18 at Dejope Hall; Oct. 20 at Eagle Heights Community Center; and Oct. 27 at 21 N. | |  | | Karcher named director of risk managementJeff Karcher, director of risk management at UW- Stevens Point, has been selected as the new director of the risk management at UW-Madison. Karcher has more than 20 years of experience in risk management, environmental health and safety, and compliance in both the public and private sectors. The Office of Risk Management manages UW-Madison’s participation in the State of Wisconsin’s self-funded Workers Compensation, Property and Liability insurance programs. Additionally, the office processes insurance claims and identifies, evaluates and controls loss exposure. Karcher started Sept. 12. | |
