Reminder of June 30 deadline to use personal holiday and vacation carryover

UW–Madison employees are reminded to make plans to use certain leave balances before the end of the fiscal year. University Staff, Academic Staff, Faculty, and Limited appointees must use personal holiday hours, floating legal holidays, or vacation carryover on or before June 30, or those hours will be lost. Employees eligible to bank vacation hours will be able to make those elections in Workday from July 1 to September 30. (Eligible University Staff may also choose cash payout elections.)

Employees are encouraged to review their leave balances (called “time off balances” in Workday). Workday has several ways to view time off balances, including directly from the Employee Profile (see the HR Guide on How to View Time Off Balances for details). Employees are encouraged to work with their supervisors to schedule time off. Employees with questions should contact the human resources department in their school, college, or division.

Reminder: Leave policy for voting

With the Spring Election coming up on April 7, employees are reminded of the UW–Madison policy regarding taking time off work to vote. Employees who cannot vote outside of working hours may vote during their scheduled work hours and must provide their supervisor with a written absence request prior to Election Day. Employees can arrange a flexible schedule with their supervisor that will allow them to vote or, depending on their eligibility, receive leave with pay or take leave without pay. Details are available in the Leave for Voting and Serving as an Election Official policy at policy.wisc.edu/library/UW-5059.
