Because of changes in federal funding and the resulting financial insecurity, all units are being asked to submit draft budget reduction plans. As leadership reviews those plans, it will prioritize safeguarding the core elements of UW’s teaching, research, and outreach missions, now and in the future. Read the full message at go.wisc.edu/ywv7vn.  |  |  |  | More Highland Avenue project closures to affect west campus travelWestbound Campus Drive on- and off-ramps and a section of Highland Avenue will be closed when the Madison Metropolitan Sewerage District's Highland Avenue sewer project enters stage two. The closures are planned for June 30 through mid-July. West campus area travel will be heavily impacted. Motorists should plan an alternate route and allow for extra travel time. Metro Transit buses will detour. Find details, maps, and recommended alternate routes at transportation.wisc.edu.  |  |  |  | Reminder: Submit leave reports and leave swap requests by June 30Faculty, Academic Staff, and Limited Appointees are required to submit monthly leave reports, whether or not leave is used. Employees must report leave as it is taken, or enter a “No Leave Taken” at the end of the month. Missing leave reports with an effective date of June 28, 2025, or earlier must be submitted and approved by June 30, 2025, for fiscal year July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2025. Entries with an effective date of June 29, 2025, or later must be held and entered in Workday. Failure to submit leave for fiscal year 2025 by September 30 will result in a permanent reduction of sick leave hours. Employees with missing leave reports receive email notification and may also check for missing leave reports in MyUW.
In addition, June 30 is the deadline for Faculty, Academic Staff, and Limited Appointees to request a swap in the type of leave used to another type of leave. Employees with questions should contact their local human resources office.  |  |  |  | Leadership and Management Development Conference call for proposalsLearning and Talent Development is hosting the annual Leadership and Management Development Conference at Union South on Wednesday, October 22. The conference provides emerging and advanced leaders, as well as those who are not in a direct leadership position, with professional development to enhance their skills and manage more effectively. Proposals are invited from potential speakers who would like to present either 2.5-hour or 75-minute breakout sessions. Criteria for successful proposals and possible topics are available on the conference website. Proposals are due August 1.  |  |
