2022–23 Parking Rates and Policies Announced

Transportation Services has announced parking rates and policies for the 2022–23 academic year (Sept. 1, 2022–Aug. 31, 2023). There will be a one percent increase for most parking permits. Most reduced and low-cost parking options introduced in 2020–21 will continue. There will be several changes to the Flex (pay-for-use) parking program, including a rate increase, and the multi-day parking pass will be discontinued for specified lots. Information about parking applications for the 2022–23 parking year will be released in mid-May. Please watch this newsletter and the Transportation Services website at for updates. Current customers for parking products will also receive updates via email.

Road Closures and Detours Starting May 16

Upcoming construction projects will cause lane closures on Charter Street, Walnut Street, and University Avenue/University Bay Drive starting the week of May 16. The closures will impact vehicles, bicycles, buses, and pedestrians traveling to and from campus. Additional construction projects will impact campus transportation this summer. New Website Highlights Accessibility Resources

A new website, Accessibility@UW–Madison, provides the university community with the information needed to design an accessible environment and help ensure equal access to programs, services, and events for people with disabilities. The website includes a full range of resources for faculty, students, and staff. Links to training and guides are provided for those who wish to help create a more inclusive university. Guidelines are also provided for creating accessible digital content and planning accessible events. The website is available at

Reminder of Deadlines to Use Certain Leave Balances

UW–Madison employees are reminded to use personal holiday hours or vacation carryover by the upcoming deadlines. Faculty, Academic Staff, and Limited Appointees with 12-month (annual basis) appointments must use all carried-over vacation and personal holiday hours by June 30, 2022, the end of the fiscal year. Floating holidays earned on Dec. 25, 2021, and Jan. 1, 2022, must also be used by June 30. For University Staff, all carried-over vacation and all personal holiday hours must be used by December 31, the end of the calendar year. Employees who are eligible to bank leave may do so. Any vacation carryover or personal holiday hours remaining after these respective deadlines will be lost. Leave balances can be found under “Time and Absence” in MyUW at
