Highlights of the summer included the hiring of a new vice chancellor for finance and administration, discussion of ways to make the campus more inclusive and welcoming to all, and anticipation of budget discussions at the state legislature. In addition, UW-Madison had its most successful summer term yet.  |  |  |  | UW-Madison budget forum set for Sept. 14The campus community is invited to be part of a discussion about the state budget and its impact on the University of Wisconsin-Madison in a forum on Wednesday, Sept. 14, from 3:30-5 p.m. at Gordon Dining & Event Center, 770 W. Dayton St. The session will discuss the university’s budget landscape and how it has changed over time, the impact of budget cuts, the UW System 2017-19 budget request, along with how alumni and supporters are being engaged in budget discussions. There also will be ample time for questions and answers, and input.  |  |  |  | With holidays on a weekend, day off is a MondayPlan for an unusual holiday work schedule this year. Christmas Eve and Christmas Day both fall on a weekend, as do New Year's Eve and Near Year's Day. As a result, both Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve are considered floating holidays, and Christmas and New Year's Day will be observed with days off on Monday, Dec. 26, and Monday, Jan. 2, when offices will be closed.  |  |  |  | New consultant added to Employee Assistance OfficeAn additional consultant has been added to the Employee Assistance Office. Susan Fuszard has been in the employee assistance field for the past 20 years, and her areas of expertise include self-care that incorporates the whole person, stress management, relationship issues, and navigating grief and trauma. In addition to individual counseling, Susan has provided management consultation in support of leaders at all levels.
