NetID Login Process Changing

The NetID login process at UW–Madison is adding a second step, called multi-factor authentication. The first steps for logging in will remain the same: You will enter your NetID and password. The additional step uses a smartphone or token (also called a fob) to verify your identity. The new verification process will be rolled out to all UW–Madison faculty and staff by school, college and division, with completion estimated in March, 2019. The Office of Cybersecurity will host a free panel discussion on multi-factor authentication on Thursday, Oct. 18, noon–1:30 p.m. in the Computer Sciences Building, Room 3139 ABC. All interested employees are welcome to attend.

Supplemental Vision Coverage Changes for 2019

The Annual Benefits Enrollment period is currently underway and will end on October 26, 2018. Any employee currently enrolled in supplemental vision coverage through EPIC Benefits+ should review the 2019 VSP vision option and take action to enroll if you want supplemental vision insurance for 2019. EPIC Benefits+ vision coverage will end December 31, 2018.

N. Charter Street Closed at All Times

N. Charter Street between W. Johnson Street and University Avenue is now closed to traffic at all times. Previously, southbound traffic was available during select hours. Vehicles should use N. Mills Street, N. Orchard Street, or another parallel street for the duration of the project.

Changes to Shop@UW

Shop@UW, the UW–Madison Business Services eCommerce marketplace, is implementing new policies and procedures in order to improve internal controls. The Materials Distribution Unit has been working with the Office of Strategic Consulting on the project, which is being conducted in three phases. The project should be completed by the end of 2018. Meet and Mingle for IT Professionals

IT Professionals is hosting a Meet and Mingle networking event on Thursday, Oct. 25, 3–5 p.m. at the Carson Gulley Center. UW–Madison Chief Information Officer Lois Brooks will provide opening remarks. IT professionals are encouraged to bring new staff, including student staff. Participants may bring posters with information about what their IT units are doing.
