Several road closures start week of Sept. 12

September 9, 2016

There will be three new road closures on the University of Wisconsin–Madison campus starting the week of September 12. They are:

University Bay Drive at University Avenue. The Village of Shorewood Hills will add a right turn lane from University Bay Drive to University Avenue.  Construction will narrow the road to one lane in each direction only with no right turn from southbound University Bay Drive to University Avenue.  Instead, traffic to University Avenue will be detoured to Marshall Court, and then to University Avenue a few blocks west. This project starts on Wednesday, Sept. 14, and will be complete by Oct. 31.

Highland Avenue. The Hospital Parking Ramp Expansion project will start reconstructing the western side of Highland at UW Hospital on Thursday, Sept. 15. This will narrow the road to only one lane in each direction, with no dedicated northbound left turn lane into UW Hospital. This will cause congestion that will continue until the end of the project in November. We suggest using Walnut Street as an alternative route.

Observatory Drive. Observatory Drive will be closed between Babcock Drive and Charter Street on Thursday, Sept. 15 and Friday, Sept. 16. Linden Drive is the alternative route.
