Memorial Union’s first floor will reopen Dec. 5 at 3 p.m. with the Daily Scoop, Badger Market and Peet’s Coffee & Tea serving customers, and comfortable study space available. On Dec. 5, the Daily Scoop will debut in its new home with a fresh, retro look and new study break treats. In addition to new dining offerings, the reopening will provide students with ample additional campus study space, including seating in Der Rathskeller. Der Rathskeller and new Memorial Union dining venues, including salad and sandwich café Carte and Italian eatery Strada, are expected to begin serving customers in January 2017.    

The DoIT Tech Store is coming to 21 N. Park St., to allow faculty and staff there to get holiday shopping done without leaving the building.  It will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 1 in room 1106, and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 5, in room 1108. All purchases require a valid UW-Madison ID, and the store cannot accept cash for transactions at the pop-up. Please pay with check, credit card or Payroll Deduction, with 6 or 12 monthly no-interest payments from your paycheck. You can enter to win a $50 tech store gift card.

If you’ve been waiting for the right time to update to Windows 10, now might be the perfect time. The free period for the general public to download is over, but you can still access it through the UW-Madison Campus Software Library, and it won’t cost you a cent to use on a UW-owned computer. Students can also install the Education edition for free on their personally owned computers. The operating system features a familiar and easy-to-navigate interface, increased support for gaming, and the Cortana personal assistant. Also, if you try it and you’re not a fan, Microsoft has built in a simple process that only requires a few clicks to roll back to your previous version of Windows.
