Winter Parking Rules Now in Effect

Winter parking rules are in effect on campus Wednesday, Nov. 15 through March 15, 2018. This information will be of particular interest to employees working the second or third shift.  Winter parking rules apply from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. every day regardless of weather conditions. There is no parking on Observatory Drive or Linden Drive, including lots 26 and 40. Parking is restricted in lots 16, 34, 40, 50, 51 and 137. In these lots, park only in rows marked with a “Shoveling Bucky” sign. The university may declare Snow Action Days in the event of major winter weather. During Snow Action Days, no parking is allowed on the top level of university ramps, and any vehicles parked on the top level must be moved before 7 a.m. Winter parking rules for the City of Madison are also in effect Nov. 15 through March 15.

Sign Up for Your Job Family Listening Session

The Title and Total Compensation Study is a vital initiative for our campus to maintain and enhance the excellence of our workforce. The study will result in clear career paths for employees and updated titles and pay ranges comparable and competitive with similar organizations. Colleagues from your job family will host upcoming listening sessions. They will share the updated job family definitions and seek your feedback regarding the grouping and definitions of sub-families. Listening sessions build on the work of 1,200 employees who attended forums in September and October. Register online at go.wisc.edu/jobfamily.

Partners in Giving Update

The Partners in Giving campaign, “Let’s Build a Better World Together,” is in full swing. Contributions are slightly higher than they were last year at this time. Partners in Giving is the state employee workplace fundraising campaign in Dane County. Employees are able to make a donation to the charity or charities of their choice and select how they want to pay for it. Donations can be made by payroll deduction, cash or check. The campaign runs through Nov. 30, so there’s still time to give. To make a contribution online or learn more, go to giving.wi.gov.

You can contribute to a drug-free workplace

All faculty and staff are strongly encouraged to help make UW–Madison a drug-free workplace. You can do this by learning the facts about substance abuse, encouraging others to avoid substance abuse, and knowing where to go for help with a drug or alcohol problem—either for yourself or someone else. Please review the laws and expectations regarding substance abuse, which apply to all members of the UW–Madison campus community. Complete information can be found at go.wisc.edu/j15c7c.
