Construction Projects Affect Getting Around Campus

UW–Madison and City of Madison construction projects are affecting traffic and parking on and around campus. The Charter Street steam project and City of Madison project on W. Johnson Street will cause traffic delays in the center of campus. Near UW Hospital, University Bay Drive is undergoing a repaving project that changes access to Lots 60 and 76. A construction project and detour map is available on the campus parking maps page at transportation.wisc.edu/campus-maps. Project dates may change based on weather or other factors. Stay up-to-date on construction projects that impact getting around campus at transportation.wisc.edu.

Absentee Voting on Campus Through Thursday

Eligible Madison voters can cast their ballots this week for the August 14 primary election at three different sites on campus. You will need to present a photo ID to receive an absentee ballot. If you are not already registered to vote at your current address, you may register to vote, with proof of residence, at any absentee voting location. Campus locations for absentee voting are Union South, second floor, 2–6 p.m.; Memorial Union, Gekas Commons, 2–6 p.m.; and Student Activity Center, sunroom, 10:15 a.m.–2 p.m. Locations are open through Thursday, Aug. 9.

University Housing Dining Markets Will Be Cashless

All University Housing Dining Markets will go “cashless” and will no longer accept cash or checks at the registers beginning Sunday, Aug. 12. This will enable the markets to serve customers efficiently without long waits at the register. Accepted forms of payment include Wiscard, Visa, Discover, and MasterCard. Individuals wishing to deposit additional money onto their Wiscard can make online deposits using computer kiosks located in each Dining Market. Wiscard deposits can also be made in person by visiting the University Housing Cashier’s Office at one of three campus locations.

Suicide Prevention Training August 27

“Recognize, Respond and Refer Suicide Prevention Training” will be held on Monday, Aug. 27, 9–10:30 a.m. at 21 North Park St., room 1106/1108. Participants will learn the warning signs for suicide, how to offer hope, and how to connect to campus and community resources. This no-cost, interactive session is intended for faculty and staff whose work does not involve student interaction. Visit go.wisc.edu/ie09lo to register. To schedule a similar session for faculty/staff who work with and support students, contact Val Donovan at 263-2535.
