Child Care Grants for University Staff

The University Staff Child Care Grant program helps University Staff at UW–Madison pay for the cost of quality child care for their children. Eligible employees include permanent University Staff who demonstrate a high need for additional financial support to pay for regulated child care. Applications are accepted throughout the year. The program is administered by the Office of Child Care and Family Resources. For more information, visit occfr.wisc.edu/financial-assistance. Construction and Traffic Updates

Here are some updates on construction projects that have been impacting traffic and street closures around campus. The closed section of N. Mills Street reopens to through southbound traffic today, Wednesday, Dec. 5. The closed section of N. Charter Street will reopen to southbound traffic in early January. In addition, the City of Madison has implemented lane closures between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on the section of University Avenue between N. Mills Street and Charter Street. Updates on construction projects, detours, and impacts to Metro Transit bus routes can be found on the Transportation Services website at transportation.wisc.edu.

Event Showcases WID Research Hubs

Research and outreach staff are encouraged to attend “Illuminating Connections” at the Wisconsin Institute of Discovery (WID) Building on Wednesday, Dec. 12 from 3–5 p.m. Attendees will have the opportunity to interact with WID’s Data Science, Multi-Omics, and Illuminating Discovery Hubs. The event will highlight how the hubs can support research and outreach activities through advising, resources, and services.

Payroll Deduction Makes Buying from DoIT Tech Store Easy

The DoIT Tech Store’s Payroll Deduction program allows most staff to buy from the DoIT Tech Store with monthly paycheck deductions. This is an interest-free payment option, ideal for holiday shopping. With a down payment of 10 percent at the time of purchase and a $25 fee, staff can spread payments over six or twelve months. Payroll Deduction is for purchases of $400 or more.
