UW–Madison will host more than 125,000 visitors for WIAA Individual Wrestling (February 21–23) and WIAA Boys Basketball (March 14–16). Parking and traffic around the Kohl Center will be impacted during the tournaments. Parking permit holders in Lots 46, 78, 91 and 94 will need to relocate from their assigned lots during the tournaments. Afternoon and night permit holders cannot park in Lots 29, 46, 78, 83, 91 or 94. Permit holders in Lots 29 and 83 may park in their lots, but can use alternate options to avoid congestion. Permit holders who are affected will receive information by email on where they can park during the tournaments. Affected permit holders may wish to use alternative transportation options, such as carpooling or taking the bus. UW–Madison provides grants for academic staff to attend certain noncredit courses offered by the Division of Continuing Studies at no cost. The program invites academic staff to take courses on topics in leadership development, business management, training and development, career planning, and diversity and inclusion. The grant program is funded by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration, working in partnership with the Professional Development and Recognition Committee. Online applications will be accepted through March 1, 2019.

Thrive@UW is a six-course series offered at no cost to UW–Madison employees. Participants explore key skills they can use in their personal and professional lives. Course offerings focus on the topics of work relationships, inclusive work environments, self-knowledge, creativity and innovation, thriving in a time of change, and communicating effectively to support collaboration. Courses are scheduled throughout the spring semester and can be taken in any sequence. UW faculty and staff can register for one or more courses, or complete the entire series.

UW–Madison employees, including J-1 Visa scholars, are invited to participate in English practice and conversation about cultural topics at the Employee Learning Center. Cultural Linguistic Services holds these sessions on Wednesdays, 4–5:30 p.m. at 21 North Park Street, room 1108. Sessions may include lessons in pronunciation, idioms, or listening to fast speech, as well as special activities or guest speakers. The sessions are free, and employees are welcome to drop in without making an appointment or registering in advance.
