Employees Invited to Enjoy Free Ice Cream on May 29

The annual Employee Appreciation Ice Cream Social will take place on Wednesday, May 29, beginning at 1 p.m. on Bascom Hill. Free ice cream will be served until 2:30 p.m. or until it runs out, whichever comes first. A number of favorite ice cream flavors will be available, including dietary alternatives. Administrators, deans, and directors will be scooping ice cream as a gesture of thanks for the hard work and dedication of UW–Madison employees. In the event of rain on May 29, the Ice Cream Social will move to the Birge Hall lobby.

EID Initiative Launches New Principles and Website

New campus resources have just been released in support of the Employee Engagement, Inclusion and Diversity (EID) initiative from the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration. The goals of the initiative are to recruit and retain talented and diverse employees and to create welcoming and inclusive work environments. With input from campus stakeholders, five EID principles have been defined to provide a shared vision and mutual expectations. A new EID website provides details about the initiative and resources to help enhance EID practices in the workplace. Some sections of the website will be made available in multiple languages in the coming months. Eleven units across campus currently participate in the EID initiative.

New Service Answers Employee Career Questions After Hours

On the last Tuesday of every month, career counselors will be available from 4–7 p.m. for brief, confidential phone conversations with UW–Madison employees. The new service will begin on Tuesday, May 28. After-hours phone-in is designed for individuals who are not sure they need a one-on-one appointment with a career counselor, have brief questions about job seeking, or are unable to meet during regular business hours. The service is offered by Adult Career and Student Special Services, and is part of UW–Madison’s commitment to ongoing career development for employees. Call 262-5723 from 4–7 p.m. on designated Tuesdays to take advantage of this service.

Dining Markets Go To Buffet Service for Summer

All University Housing Dining Markets will move from à la carte (pay for what you take) service to an All-You-Care-To-Eat (buffet style) service for all customers during summer term. You will pay for your meal upon entry to the market. Prices are $7.25 for Breakfast, $9.75 for Lunch, and $9.95 for Dinner. Summer hours are listed on the University Housing website.
