UW–Madison employees have access to thousands of courses, seminars, conferences, and other professional development events every year. Employees can learn about these opportunities by reviewing the new Professional Development website for UW–Madison. The new site enables employees to search for courses and other learning opportunities, view their official course history, and learn how to develop their career. The site also offers information about campus communities of practice. All employees are encouraged to engage in professional development as a way to learn new skills, build relationships with colleagues, and achieve career goals. UW–Madison faculty and staff can save money at any of the six University Housing dining locations by joining a meal plan offered by University Housing. For a $29.99 annual fee, members receive a 20 percent discount on most food items during the academic year (Sept. 4, 2019–May 8, 2020). Program members must use their Wiscard for purchases to receive the discount. Deposits can be made to a Wiscard account online, in person, or by mail. To sign up for the meal plan, visit the Housing Dining Office in the lower level of Gordon Dining & Event Center, 770 West Dayton Street.

The University Staff Child Care Grant program helps University Staff at UW–Madison pay for the cost of quality child care for their children. Eligible employees include permanent University Staff who demonstrate a high need for additional financial support to pay for regulated child care. Applications are accepted throughout the year. The program is administered by the Office of Child Care and Family Resources. For more information, visit occfr.wisc.edu/financial-assistance. Beginning September 9, UW–Madison students can start enrolling in multi-factor authentication from Duo. All students will be required to enroll by October 31, 2019. Instructional staff and faculty can help with the transition by encouraging their students to enroll early. The MFA-Duo KnowledgeBase offers solutions for various classroom scenarios that may require authentication of identity.
