Reminder to Complete Staff Climate Survey by May 3

UW–Madison employees who have not yet completed the 2022 Staff Climate Survey are encouraged to do so by the May 3 deadline. Permanent academic staff, university staff, limited appointees who do not hold a faculty appointment, and post-docs received a link to the survey in an email on Tuesday, April 12 (search your email for “Staff Climate Survey”). The survey includes questions about workplace environment, work unit, relationship with one’s supervisor, remote work policy, and more, and takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. The UW Survey Center is administering the survey. Responses are confidential and will never be shared in a way that could identify individual respondents. For additional details, visit the survey website at go.wisc.edu/staffsurvey2022.

Outside Employment Reporting for University Staff

UW–Madison University Staff employees are not prohibited from accepting outside employment, provided that the outside employment does not interfere with their duties to the university. The Board of Regents Code of Ethics policy prohibits University Staff employees from accepting outside employment that causes a conflict of interest with their university employment. If a University Staff member is considering or is currently working an additional job outside the UW, they need to self-determine if the outside job duties are in conflict with their UW job duties. In these situations, employees should provide details about the outside employment to their supervisor. The supervisor will let the employee know if they are able to start or continue with the outside employment. University Staff who are not sure whether they need to take action or have questions about the policy should speak with their supervisor. To learn more, visit go.wisc.edu/35285b.
