Help build the IT community you wish to see!

Calling all campus IT colleagues! The IT Professionals Steering Committee is being reinvigorated and is looking for new members!

What is the IT Professionals Steering Committee?

IT Professionals is an organized group of self-identified IT and IT-adjacent members of the UW–Madison community seeking to foster an inclusive and equitable community that enables resources sharing, learning and connection.

With the aim to build and foster this community, IT Professionals is charged with holding events twice (or more) each year, facilitating the annual IT awards committee, liaising and ensuring success of the IT Professionals Conference Committee, and helping connect new hires to the IT community on campus. You can find the drafted charter here.

Why join?

Build the community you wish to see! This group was active pre-COVID and is now seeking to reinvigorate and regain momentum with new leadership and membership. You’ll be joining a great community of IT Connects colleagues. You’ll have the chance to:

  • Shape events
  • Find ways to build connections
  • And collaborate to provide opportunities for knowledge sharing

What are the priorities and time commitments?

We’re seeking steering committee members to help kick off this community! Committee members will be asked to self-identify 2 co-leads or another mechanism for group governance.

The steering committee is asked to revise and build on the drafted charter, which was approved by IT Connects.

The committee will be asked to have the co-leads or other designated representative attend monthly IT Connects committee meetings. All expected duties can be found within the charter and it is anticipated that members will spend roughly a couple of hours each month on this work.

Please consider joining the UW-IT Professionals group to help us in our charge to share resources and build a stronger campus IT community!
