Civil Rights Leader to Speak at MLK Symposium

Social entrepreneur, changemaker, and former NAACP president Benjamin Jealous will provide the keynote address at UW's annual MLK Symposium on Monday, Jan. 23, in the Memorial Union's Shannon Hall. Jealous will reflect on the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through the lens of his work as a civil rights leader. The keynote will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by a moderated Q&A and a reception with light refreshments. Learn more at go.wisc.edu/MLK23.

Showcase 2023 Call for Proposals

The Office of Strategic Consulting will be hosting the 23rd annual Showcase event on Thursday, April 20, at Union South. This day-long event brings together campus colleagues to share best practices, learn from each other’s successes, and connect. Proposals are now being accepted for one-hour breakout sessions on topics related to organizational effectiveness. All sessions will be delivered in person; there will be no livestreams or recordings. Suggested topics and evaluation criteria are available on the Showcase website. Proposals should be submitted by Friday, Feb. 10. Registration for the event is also open. Visit showcase.wisc.edu for details.

Webinar Teaches Mind-Body Wellness Skills

LifeMatters and the Employee Assistance Office are offering a virtual webinar, Mind-Body Wellness, on Tuesday, Jan. 24, noon‒12:45 p.m. via Zoom. Mind-Body Wellness offers attendees an opportunity to slow down and learn practical mindfulness exercises. The webinar is offered at no cost to all UW‒Madison employees. University Roundtable Offers Lunchtime Learning

Each semester, the University Roundtable offers three lunch programs, each featuring a talk or program by a member of the university community. All programs will be held in Varsity Hall at Union South from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Topics to be covered include collegiate athletics on February 15; biomarker testing on March 15; and a backstage look at Wisconsin Public Radio on April 26. Roundtable programs are open to members of the university community and their guests. The cost for each lunch is $15, and advance registration is required.
