Child Care and Family Resources

The Office of Child Care and Family Resources coordinates the early education/child care and family support system on campus in response to the needs of UW families. The UW children’s centers operate on or close to campus and provide priority enrollment to UW faculty, staff and student parents while fulfilling the greater teaching, research and outreach mission of UW.

Employee Assistance

Ombuds Office

Emeritus employees work part-time in the Ombuds Office for Faculty and Staff, serving as an impartial and confidential resource for conflict resolution among campus parties. The Ombuds work independently from university administration, and can be an excellent resource for advice and facilitation of open dialogues.

Employee Assistance Office

The Employee Assistance Office (EAO) provides confidential counseling for personal issues to assist faculty and staff with maintaining and enhancing both their personal and professional lives.  EAO provides consultation with individuals, pairs and groups to improve communication and resolve conflict in the workplace. The EAO is familiar with both campus and  community resources and can make referrals when appropriate.

Workforce Relations

The Office of Workforce Relations serves the university community by promoting mutual respect, encouraging a positive work environment, and assisting in resolving workplace issues through proactive intervention. This office provides information and support based on university policy and practice, and assists you when considering the best course of action for your specific situation.

Hostile and Intimidating Behavior

Hostile and intimidating behavior, sometimes known by the shorthand term “bullying,” is defined in university policy as “unwelcome behavior pervasive or severe enough that a reasonable person would find it hostile and/or intimidating and that does not further the University’s academic or operational interests.” The Hostile and Intimidating Behavior website provides resources for employees on preventing hostile and intimidating behavior, addressing it when it happens, and finding advice, consultation, and support on campus.

Employee Disability Resources

The Disability Coordinator/Employment is a campus resource for employees and applicants if they need advice related to a disability request or concern. Each School, College and Division has a Divisional Disability Representative (DDR) designated to facilitate requests for disability accommodation and medical leave. The Disability and Medical Leave Resources: A Guide for Employees is a resource that outlines contacts for campus disability processes and benefits.

International Faculty & Staff Services

The office of International Faculty and Staff Services (IFSS) provides comprehensive assistance on all aspects of non-student immigration. The office acts as the liaison between the university and all government agencies involved in immigration matters, and assists both the institution and individuals in complying with immigration laws and regulations.

Cultural and Linguistic Services

The mission of Cultural and Linguistic Services (CLS) is to enhance communication, cultural understanding and learning in order to advance in multilingual work environments. CLS offers translation services, interpretation services, and communications training.
