  • Free Course Teaches Conflict Management Skills

    A half-day course on “Modes of Conflict Management” is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 14, 9 a.m.–noon in Ingraham Hall, Room 220. Participants will learn how to understand and manage interpersonal conflict. Tools and techniques for addressing a variety of conflict situations will be provided. The free course is offered by Learning and Talent Development and is part of the Fully Prepared to Lead professional development program for UW–Madison faculty and staff.

  • Employees Can Manage Paycheck Direct Deposit Online

    Beginning November 4, 2019, UW–Madison employees will be able to manage direct deposit of their paycheck online through MyUW. Employees will be able to add, edit, or delete a direct deposit account online from their computer, smart phone, or tablet. It will no longer be necessary to submit a paper form, although paper forms will still be accepted. To get started, log in to MyUW, launch the Payroll Information module, and click on “Update Direct Deposit.” Learn more at hr.wisc.edu/pay/direct-deposit.

  • Learn About TSA Supplemental Retirement Savings

    The UW Tax-Sheltered Annuity (TSA) 403(b) Program is a voluntary, supplemental retirement savings program that allows employees to invest a portion of their income on a pre-tax basis, after-tax (Roth) basis, or a combination of both. A one-on-one counseling session with a financial representative can help you learn about the TSA program. Sessions are offered on several dates in November at Union South and Memorial Union. You can learn more at a UW TSA 403(b) workshop on Tuesday, Nov. 19, 1–2 p.m. or Wednesday, Nov. 20, 12:30–1:30 p.m. at 21 North Park Street, room 1106.   • IT Listening Sessions Scheduled

    The Division of Information Technology (DoIT) is hosting a series of listening sessions with UW–Madison Chief Information Officer Lois Brooks in November. The sessions are open to all members of the university IT community. Brooks will provide a brief progress report on IT initiatives. Participants will be invited to share their experiences and provide input. Registration is required. Sessions are limited in size; early sign-up is recommended.

  • Employee Career Conference Invites Session Proposals

    The UW-Madison Employee Career Conference will take place on Wednesday, March 11, 2020, 8:30 a.m.–4:15 p.m. at Union South. The conference supports employee career development by providing the skills and resources needed to establish and maintain a satisfying career. Anyone who is interested in presenting at the conference is welcome to submit a session proposal by Friday, Dec. 6, 2019. Sessions will focus on the foundations of career management, tools and resources for taking the next steps, and career wellness for a lifetime. Registration is now open for those who wish to attend the conference.

  • Enroll in Annual Benefits by October 25 Deadline

    The Annual Benefits Enrollment period ends this Friday, Oct. 25 at 4:30 p.m. This is the only time you can make changes to certain benefits without having an eligible life event or qualifying employment change during the year. In addition, certain benefits you may be enrolled in require action each year. Employees should choose their 2020 benefits via Self Service (eBenefits) in MyUW.   • Help Build a Better World Through Partners in Giving

    The Partners in Giving campaign, “Give Hope,” invites you to give back by making financial gifts to local, national, or international charities. Partners in Giving is the state employee workplace fundraising campaign in Dane County. Employees are able to make a donation to the charity or charities of their choice. Make an online pledge on the Partners in Giving website to give using payroll deduction or a credit card. You can also submit a paper pledge form and make a gift through payroll deduction, cash, or check. The campaign runs through November 29.   • New Website Highlights Campus International Resources

    A new website provides a single access point to campus international resources at UW–Madison. The website is designed to serve international students, faculty, staff, visitors, and campus units hosting those from abroad. The website highlights some of the most frequently used international resources and provides a brief description and link to each of the international units. Creation of the new website was a collaborative effort of all three international units—International Student Services, International Faculty and Staff Services, and the International Division—and was facilitated by the Office of Strategic Consulting.   • Student-Employee of the Year Nominations Open

    The Offices of Student Financial Aid and Student Employment are hosting the second annual campus-wide Student-Employee of the Year competition this fall. The top three winners will receive scholarships for the spring 2020 semester, and the first-place winner will go on to compete for the Midwest Regional Student-Employee of the Year.   • November Forums to Update Employees on TTC Project

    All UW–Madison employees are invited to attend an informational update on the Title and Total Compensation (TTC) Project. New information will be shared, so those who have attended previous forums are encouraged to participate. The November Forums will provide an update on manager and employee engagement, and introduce the UW job library and new standard job descriptions. There will be time for questions and answers. Five sessions will be held at various campus locations during the week of November 11, and there will be an online forum on Wednesday, Nov. 20. Multilingual sessions will be offered in English, Spanish, Hmong, Tibetan, Mandarin, and Nepali. TTC is a campus-wide initiative to attract, reward and retain university employees by creating a market-informed pay and benefits structure.
