  • Pay Increase Planned for Night and Weekend Employees

    UW–Madison employees who work second or third shift receive additional compensation when they work nights between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. or weekends between 12:01 a.m. on Saturday and midnight on Sunday. This additional compensation, known as “differential pay,” will increase beginning November 12, 2017. The differential will increase from $0.45 to $0.80 per hour for hours worked at night and from $0.60 to $0.80 per hour for weekend hours worked. In announcing the increase, UW–Madison administrators stated that they appreciate the hard work and contributions of second- and third-shift workers to the mission of the university.

  • Input Sought on Graduate Assistantship Policy Draft

    A campus workgroup, charged with transitioning policy from the former Teacher Assistants Association contract to a Graduate Assistant Policies and Procedures document, will host forums to gather feedback on the drafted document. The group’s purpose has been to develop a resource that will guide graduate students and supervisors on employment-related matters. Open forums will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 25 at 6 p.m. in 1106 Mechanical Engineering and Friday, Oct. 27 at 11:30 a.m. in 260 Bascom Hall.

  • New Fleet Vehicle Driver Authorization Form

    The Wisconsin Department of Administration has launched a new fleet asset management system, Enterprise Fleet Management System. All Electronic Vehicle Use Agreements (EVUA) will be submitted and stored electronically in this system. To avoid an interruption in service, all employees who drive fleet vehicles for university business must complete a new EVUA by October 27, 2017. The new form can be found at fleetportal.wi.gov.

  • Benefits Fair Brings Employee Resources to Union South

    All UW–Madison employees are encouraged to visit the Benefits and Resource Fair on Tuesday, Oct. 17 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Union South. The fair provides an opportunity to meet with benefits representatives, discover campus resources, and attend presentations on topics such as investment basics, budgeting, and planning for retirement. Informational seminars on the 2018 UW benefits package will be held 11:30 a.m.–1 p.m., 2-3:30 p.m., and 5-6:30 p.m. Representatives will be on hand to help employees enroll in benefits online via Self Service (eBenefits). No leave needs to be taken to attend the Benefits Fair, and pre-registration is not required. For details, visit benefits.wisc.edu/fair.

  • Deadline Near to Earn $150 Well Wisconsin Incentive

    The Well Wisconsin incentive, administered by StayWell, is a feature of the State Group Health Insurance program. Employees and spouses or domestic partners enrolled in the program are eligible for a $150 incentive. To qualify, the following steps must be completed before Oct. 20: Step 1— Have a health screening and submit the results to StayWell.   • Order Online for Campus Dining with New App

    On-campus dining at UW–Madison is now faster and more convenient with the addition of online ordering. University Housing and the Wisconsin Union have partnered with Tapingo to provide easy online ordering of food and drinks for pick-up through a free mobile app. The app notifies users when their orders are ready at the Tapingo Express pick-up area at each location. The online ordering service will cover Housing and Union locations across campus. A $0.59 fee is charged for each Tapingo order. Tapingo can also connect to a Wiscard account for payment, creating a seamless ordering experience where students, faculty, and staff can take advantage of some of their usual discounts on food.

  • Faculty and Staff Breakfast at Alumni Park

    Kick off UW–Madison Homecoming week with a free continental breakfast for faculty and staff on Monday, Oct. 16, 8–10 a.m. at One Alumni Place, 650 North Lake Street. Drop in to see the new Alumni Park and One Alumni Place. The breakfast is open to all faculty and staff; no registration is required. This event is brought to you by the Wisconsin Alumni Association and Memorial Union.

  • ALEX Helps with Benefits Decisions

    During Annual Benefits Enrollment (ABE), October 2–27, 2017, benefits-eligible UW–Madison employees can enroll in or make changes to select benefits for 2018. This year, a new online tool called ALEX is available to make the process easier. ALEX acts as a personalized benefits counselor, asking a series of questions and suggesting appropriate plans based on the answers.   • Alumni Park Opens Friday

    Alumni Park, a new lakefront destination between the Memorial Union and the Red Gym, will open on Friday, Oct. 6. All are invited to grand opening festivities beginning at 5:30 p.m. in Library Mall, with a park opening at 6 p.m. and activities until 9 p.m. On opening day, Langdon Street will be closed between Park Street and Lake Street from noon to 9 p.m. The opening celebration continues Saturday and Sunday with drop-in guided tours and family-friendly art activities. The new destination features outdoor exhibits and art installations, the Goodspeed Family Pier, and One Alumni Place, a new welcome center for alumni and visitors.

  • Symposium Explores Seven Dimensions of Wellness

    UWell, UW–Madison’s campuswide wellness initiative, in partnership with the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health, will host the third annual Wellness Symposium, “Wellness Now: Being Our Best Selves in the Current Moment,” on Wednesday, Nov. 1, 9 a.m.–2 p.m. at Union South. Experts from across campus will share insights into how to care for oneself in the midst of everyday life as it relates to the seven interconnected dimensions of wellness: physical, emotional, spiritual, community, work/school, financial, and environmental. The event is free to students and costs $20 for UW–Madison faculty and staff.
