    Training sessions on the new process for ordering Staples products are on May 31 and June 2 at various locations around campus. The training will also highlight Staples functions such as creating personal lists of favorite items, utilizing My Order Status, processing online returns; and searching for orders.

  • Two Physical Plant Units Renamed

    The Central Answering and Response Service (CARS) is now Physical Plant (PP) Customer Service. PP Customer Service will continue to serve as a main point of contact for all service requests for campus customers. The combined Project Administration Center (PAC) and Architecture/Engineering will now be known as Campus Renovation Services. This unit will continue to be responsible for the design and construction of non-capital projects on campus.

  • Welcome to the Working at UW Digest

    This new weekly newsletter is designed to bring you the latest campus updates and information. You’ll receive it every Wednesday, complementing Inside UW-Madison, which is sent on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the academic year. For those who don’t use a computer as part of their jobs, printouts of the digest will be posted in break rooms. English language learners can access the news through language-specific phone lines. Additional resources, with everything from HR, professional development, transportation info and discounts are posted and continuously updated at working.wisc.edu.

    Grab a chair and soak up the sun on the historic Memorial Union Terrace, recently reopened following a major renovation. Summer hours are Monday-Thursday 7 a.m.-Midnight, Friday-Saturday 7 a.m. – 1 a.m. and Sundays 8 a.m.-Midnight.

  • New Labor Rules Announced

    The U.S. Department of Labor has increased the salary threshold the Fair Labor Standards Act to $47,476 annually from $23,660. Employees whose salary falls below the new threshold must be paid hourly, report hours worked, and be compensated for overtime. The new rules go into effect December 1. OHR is working closely with HR departments campus-wide on how the new rule will be implemented to ensure compliance. We will provide more information once the new federal regulations are fully interpreted.

  • Potential Changes to FLSA May Affect Campus

    The U.S. Department of Labor has proposed increasing the salary threshold the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) to $50,440 per year from its current level of $23,660. This means that those whose gross pay is below the new minimum will have to be paid hourly, report hours work, and be compensated for overtime. The new FLSA rules could go into effect as early as July 1.
