  • Transportation Services Announces 2023‒24 Parking Rates, Program Changes

    Many parking permits and passes will see a 1 percent price increase. The hourly rate to qualify for the reduced cost parking program will increase from $18.35 to $18.72 per hour.   • Complete Mandatory Cybersecurity Awareness Training Now

    All UW‒Madison employees are required to complete the 2023 Cybersecurity Awareness Training. Those who have not completed the training must do so by 11:59 p.m. on December 31, 2023 (or earlier if required by your area). The training is available in six languages (text version only) and typically takes less than 30 minutes to complete. FAQs, including information on how to verify if you have successfully completed the training, are available on the Cybersecurity Awareness Training website.   • LGBTQ+ Town Hall April 20

    The LGBTQ Shared Governance Committee is hosting a Town Hall on Thursday, April 20, 5‒7 p.m. at the Pyle Center, 702 Langdon Street. The committee invites faculty and staff to bring their ideas, thoughts, and concerns about their work. CART captioning and dinner will be provided.

  • Help Partners in Giving Reach $2M

    The Partners in Giving 2022 Awards Ceremony, held March 20, honored volunteers who did outstanding work to support the campaign and campus units that made strides to increase participation (see the award winners). Organizers also announced that the campaign had raised $1,983,003 to date, which inspired event emcee UW Police Department Chief Kristen Roman to volunteer to take a pie in the face if the campaign total reaches $2 million by May 1. Although the option to give through payroll deduction has passed, donations by credit/debit card, PayPal, and check are accepted through May 14.

  • UW‒Madison Ranked Among America's Best Large Employers

    UW–Madison ranked in the top 500 among “America’s Best Large Employers” for 2023 in a survey by Forbes. The university came in at #196 on the list of employers with at least 5,000 employees. The ranking is based on a survey of about 45,000 workers at American companies and institutions with 5,000 or more employees.

  • A Week of Celebration to Mark Investiture of Chancellor Mnookin

    On April 14, UW–Madison will formally welcome Chancellor Jennifer L. Mnookin as its 30th leader with an investiture ceremony, one of the oldest traditions in academia. A live stream of the investiture ceremony will be available at investiture.wisc.edu. Following the ceremony, a campus community picnic celebration will be held at noon, April 14, on Library Mall. The picnic will feature free food, entertainment, and the inaugural serving of Chancellor Mnookin’s ice cream flavor. The event is open to all faculty, staff, students, guests, and Madison community members. The week of April 10‒14 will include a variety of associated campus and community events.

  • Recognition Event for Second- and Third-Shift Employees

    As part of investiture week, UW‒Madison will host a special event to recognize second- and third-shift employees on Tuesday, April 11, 10:30 p.m.‒12:30 a.m. at the Kohl Center. Chancellor Jennifer Mnookin will speak at 11:30 p.m. Bucky Badger and the UW Band will be in attendance. All materials and speeches will be translated into English, Spanish, Hmong, Tibetan, Chinese, and Nepali. All are welcome.

  • University Avenue Construction Will Affect Commuters

    A City of Madison project to reconstruct University Avenue is expected to resume April 10 and will cause lane, sidewalk, and bike path closures between University Bay Drive and Shorewood Boulevard. Commuters should expect delays and plan accordingly. Find details at transportation.wisc.edu.

  • Workday Walkthrough Overview of Benefits & Pay Hub

    When Workday goes live at every UW System institution in 2024, all faculty and staff will use a new Benefits & Pay Hub, a single location to view benefits, payroll, and compensation information. An overview of this hub will be provided on Thursday, April 13, 3‒4 p.m. via Zoom. A new Model My Pay paycheck estimator will also be demonstrated. Workday Walkthroughs are not training; rather, they are your best opportunity to get a look at Workday before training begins in 2024.   • New Metro Transit Bus System Starts June 11

    After two years of planning and community feedback, a completely new system of bus routes, stops, and schedules starts Sunday, June 11. UW employees and students are advised to check route planning resources to see how bus commutes may be impacted in the new system.
