  • Administrative Professionals Conference Registration Open

    Registration is now open for the Administrative Professionals Conference, scheduled for Wednesday, April 12, 8:30 a.m.‒3:30 p.m. at Union South. The conference, formerly known as the Office Professionals Conference, is designed for UW employees and Madison community members who would like to learn skills across a wide variety of personal and professional topics. The keynote session will look at “How to Find Work/Life Balance When There is None.” Managers and supervisors are encouraged to approve requests from staff to attend the conference. Registration—which includes the keynote, workshops, and lunch—has a $125 fee and is due by March 28.

  • Active Badger Day Features Free Fitness Activities

    Rec Well will be offering a full day and evening of fitness activities for faculty, staff, and students on Active Badger Day, Thursday, March 2. The goal is to inspire members of the UW‒Madison community to play hard, get fit, and live well. Some of the scheduled events include free fitness classes, yoga, healthful meals from University Housing Dining, and self-guided walking tours at Chazen Museum.   • Still Time to Give Through Partners in Giving

    The 2022‒23 Partners in Giving Campaign has raised almost $2 million for 500+ local, national, and international charities. Although the opportunity to give through payroll deduction concluded in the fall, the campaign continues through May 14, giving UW employees and retirees the opportunity to donate using a credit card, check or cash. If you are still searching for a cause or want to learn more about the impact of your gift, check out the recordings of this year’s virtual lunch and learns to hear from organizations that are partnering with Partners in Giving.   • Individual Counseling Sessions on Supplemental Retirement Program

    Representatives of TIAA and Fidelity will be holding one-on-one counseling sessions for UW employees at Union South on the UW‒Madison campus in February and March. These counseling sessions are a free service available to participants in the UW 403(b) Supplemental Retirement Program (SRP) as well as those considering participation. A counseling session does not obligate you to open an account with any provider. Limited appointment times are available to meet with a TIAA representative on campus on February 21, 22 and 23. Fidelity is scheduling appointments at Union South on February 27‒28, as well as March 1‒3 and 7‒8. (Select “In-Person” appointment type and then choose “Madison campus” as the location.)   • Open House to Showcase Leadership Initiatives

    Leadership @ UW is hosting an open house on Thursday, March 2, 11 a.m.‒2 p.m. at Gordon Dining and Event Center. The Celebration of Leadership will feature programming related to the newly validated Leadership Framework, the launch of the Online Leadership Self-Assessment, Engaged Leaders through Employment, music, improv, and displays by campus partners.   • Free Webinar Helps Employees Address Burnout

    A virtual webinar on Addressing Burnout will be offered by LifeMatters and the Employee Assistance Office on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 11 a.m.‒noon. Participants will learn how to adapt to the stresses of everyday life. Topics to be covered include mindful living and habits, building resilience by managing one’s energy, and increasing emotional intelligence. The webinar is free to all UW‒Madison employees.   • Share Your Ideas for IT Professionals Conference

    The UW‒Madison IT Professionals Conference will take place on Thursday and Friday, June 1‒2, with all free events offered via Zoom. The conference will feature presentations, panel discussions, workshops, and flash talks on information technology topics. UW‒Madison faculty and staff are invited to help shape this year’s event by sharing ideas for conference programming. To submit your ideas, complete the online survey by Thursday, Feb. 23.

  • America Saves Week Offers Financial Resources

    During America Saves Week, February 27‒March 3, UW‒Madison employees can take advantage of live and on-demand webinars, individual counseling sessions, and other resources offered by UW System. America Saves Week highlights topics that contribute to financial stability such as saving money, preparing for unexpected expenses, retirement, and reducing debt. Events hosted by UW System partners include credit checkups and individual counseling sessions on UW System retirement programs; these events require pre-registration or scheduling an appointment.   • Showcase Invites Poster Proposals

    The 23rd annual Showcase will take place on Thursday, April 20, at Union South. This day-long event, hosted by the Office of Strategic Consulting, brings together campus colleagues to share best practices, learn from each other’s successes, and connect. Proposals are due by Friday, March 10, for posters that highlight improvements, innovations, or best practices that have been implemented in the past year or two. UW‒Madison’s Design Lab will be holding free, virtual Poster Exhibitor Workshops on March 6 and March 22 to help exhibitors manage new poster size requirements. Registration for the event is also open. Space is limited, so early registration is encouraged.

  • Open Houses to Collect Input on West Campus District Plan

    UW‒Madison will host three on-campus events to gather feedback about the current layout of the west side of campus and future improvements planned for the West Campus District. The drop-in events will be held February 22, 11 a.m.‒1 p.m. and again at 4‒6:30 p.m. at the Health Sciences Learning Center, and February 23, 11 a.m.‒1 p.m. at Gordon Dining & Event Center. Attendees will have an opportunity to view initial design concepts from the project team and share their reactions. Those who are unable to attend the events are invited to use an interactive feedback tool to share their thoughts.
