  • Diversity Forum to Focus on History and What We Can Learn from It

    Registration is now open for the 2022 UW–Madison Diversity Forum, “The Power of Remembering: Reclaiming Our Legacies to Imagine New Futures.” The hybrid event will be held on November 14–15. Dr. Tiya Miles, Harvard historian, author, and professor, will deliver the keynote address. The 2022 conference will focus on how we can better tell previously untold stories; what we can learn from our shared history; and how we can use those lessons to move toward a more equitable and inclusive future. The Diversity Forum is free and open to the public. Registration for in-person attendance is requested by this Friday, Oct. 28. Learn more at diversityforum.wisc.edu.

  • Reminder to Complete Cybersecurity Awareness Training by Dec. 1 Deadline

    The 2022 Cybersecurity Awareness Training is required for all UW–Madison employees. Those faculty and staff who have not yet completed the training must do so by Dec. 1, 2022, or they will be deemed ineligible for any pay adjustments and bonuses determined by their local schools, colleges, or divisions and ineligible for pay plan increases. There are two training options available: a video-based version, and a text-based version that is accessible for all people and available in English, Spanish, Hmong, Tibetan, Chinese, and Nepali. The 2022 training is provided through Canvas and should take about 30 minutes to complete.   • Nominations Open for Student Employment Awards

    The Office of Student Financial Aid is seeking nominations for Student Employee of the Year. Scholarships will be awarded to the top student employee in each of five categories. The deadline for supervisors to nominate outstanding student employees is Tuesday, Nov. 8. In addition, the Student Employment Supervisor of the Year award celebrates the accomplishments of those who play an important role in the development of student employees. The deadline to nominate outstanding student employment supervisors is Friday, Nov. 18.

  • Enroll in Annual Benefits by October 21

    The Annual Benefits Enrollment period ends this Friday, Oct. 21, at 4:30 p.m. This is the only time you can make changes to certain benefits without having an eligible life event or qualifying employment change during the year. In addition, certain benefits you may be enrolled in require action each year. Employees should choose their 2023 benefits via Self Service in MyUW at my.wisc.edu.   • Register Now for Leadership & Management Development Conference

    The Leadership and Management Development Conference will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 9, at Union South. The conference for emerging and advanced leaders offers a full day of professional development and networking. Breakout sessions will focus on career management; engagement, inclusion, and diversity; leadership; personal development and workplace skills; relationship building and communication; and wellness. Chancellor Jennifer Mnookin will present the keynote on “Listening, Learning, and Leading.” Participants do not need to be in a position of direct leadership to attend. The conference fee is $135, including lunch, for those who are affiliated with UW–Madison or UW System and $175 for others. Register by Tuesday, Oct. 25.

  • Lecture to Focus on UCLA Equity Initiative

    All are welcome to attend a free lecture on “Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) Work and Leadership” on Thursday, Oct. 27, 5:30–6:45 p.m., at the Health Sciences Learning Center (HSLC), room 1345. The lecture will be followed by a reception. Eraka Bath, MD, of UCLA will discuss how to increase equity among underrepresented groups to improve education, training, care, and clinical research in diverse communities.

  • Benefits Enrollment Session Available Online

    The Annual Benefits Enrollment period is currently underway and will end at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 21, 2022. Employees who need more information in order to make informed decisions about benefits may wish to attend a live, virtual presentation of “Benefits 2023: What You Need to Know.” This one-hour session includes a review of 2023 benefits changes, information on how to enroll, and time for questions and answers. The last sessions are scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 13 at 5 p.m. and Friday, Oct. 14 at 1 p.m. Pre-registration is not required. The recorded presentation can be viewed on YouTube.
