Institutional Ethics Committee provides consultation to employees
UW–Madison has established the Institutional Ethics Committee to create a formal, compliant, and consistent mechanism for ethics consultations. Any Faculty, Academic Staff, University Staff, or Limited Appointee may request advice, consistent with UW System Administrative Code and Board of Regents policies. The committee will focus on questions or concerns related to personal gain from a university position, contracting and leasing, nepotism, and student research protection. The committee does not replace existing avenues available to employees today to support an ethical workplace culture. Allegations or questions about the behavior of others will be handled through existing processes.
The committee is advisory and does not make final decisions about whether an issue is or is not an ethical concern; that authority rests with the dean or director of the school, college, or division. The committee will refer employees to other offices as appropriate.
