UWPD to test new one-button alert system on March 27

The UW–Madison Police Department (UWPD) has launched a new tool in an effort to speed up critical emergency notifications during a life-threatening, active threat situation. Starting this fall, UWPD has the ability to quickly press a physical “panic button” that would automatically trigger a WiscAlert emergency notification to all UW students and staff. UWPD will test the Alertus system with a campus-wide WiscAlert test on Wednesday, March 27. The test will occur at approximately 11 a.m. Members of the campus community do not need to take any action in response to the test.
