  • Pay Increases for Faculty and Staff Receive Formal Approval

    A legislative committee for the State of Wisconsin has voted in favor of the 2017–2019 pay plan that was announced in Working at UW in January. The plan will provide pay increases totaling 4 percent for Faculty, Academic Staff, University Staff, and Limited Appointees. The 4 percent increase will be phased in, with the first 2 percent taking effect in July 2018 and the second 2 percent in January of 2019. UW–Madison employees must meet certain conditions to be eligible for the increases. The pay plan was approved unanimously by the committee.

  • Merger Creates Office of Strategic Consulting

    The new Office of Strategic Consulting provides strategic planning, process improvement, project management, and organizational design and redesign to partners across campus. The office was formed by the August 1, 2017, merger of the former Office of Quality Improvement (OQI) and the Administrative Process Redesign (APR) office. The Office of Strategic Consulting provides a broader, more unified suite of services to both academic and administrative units on campus. The new name became effective January 1.

  • Badgers Get Active Feb. 22

    Faculty, staff, and students are invited to get moving on Thursday, Feb. 22 for #ActiveBadger Day. Fitness and recreational activities are scheduled at various campus locations from early morning to late evening. Most activities are free.   • Enrollment Open for Fully Prepared to Lead

    The Fully Prepared to Lead series offers no-cost professional development to help UW–Madison employees improve their leadership skills. Leadership is defined by your actions and behaviors to help effect positive change and is not defined by your formal position or authority. Classes can be taken in any order and you may take as many or as few as you like. Register for individual sessions or complete a Certificate of Leadership Competency.   • Professional Development Grants Available for Academic Staff

    Applications are now being accepted for the Spring 2018 Academic Staff Professional Development Grant program. The program is offered to academic staff members who meet the eligibility requirements and hold at least a 50 percent appointment. Grants are for activities beginning between July 1, 2018 and December 31, 2018. Applications are due Friday, March 16.

  • Instructors Share Experiences with Tech

    The new Active Teaching Exchanges, offered by DoIT Academic Technology, provide an opportunity to hear from other instructors about their experiences using tools and techniques to teach. Exchanges feature challenging topics and deep discussion, while the popular Active Teaching Labs provide hands-on experience with technology tools. Events are held weekly.

  • Campus Dining Locations Now Offer Delivery

    A new delivery service enables customers to order almost any menu item from University Housing and Wisconsin Union locations across campus. The service uses a free mobile app from Tapingo that was introduced last fall. UW–Madison faculty, staff, and students can use their Wiscard account for payment and receive many of their usual discounts. There is a delivery charge of $3.99 per order.

  • UW–Madison Responds to Sexual Misconduct

    Chancellor Blank has published a blog post that explains how UW–Madison is identifying and addressing sexual misconduct involving faculty and staff. Sexual misconduct includes sexual harassment and sexual assault. University leadership plans to enhance centralized reporting, record-keeping, and training related to sexual misconduct. The university is committed to providing a welcoming, supportive environment in which all students, faculty, and staff are able to succeed and thrive.

  • How to Earn Your $150 Well Wisconsin Incentive

    Employees and spouses currently enrolled in the State Group Health Insurance plan are eligible for an annual $150 wellness incentive. New in 2018, completion of one Well Wisconsin Well-being activity is required to earn the $150 wellness incentive. Examples of well-being activities include a Million Steps Challenge and a 21-day meditation experience. Participants must also complete the health screening and health assessment.   • America Saves Week Promotes Financial Wellness

    America Saves Week, scheduled for February 26–March 3, helps UW–Madison employees save money and achieve their financial goals. UW System Tax-Sheltered Annuity (TSA) 403(b) providers, in partnership with UWell, are offering workshops, credit checkups, and counseling sessions. All events are offered at no cost.
