  • Update Your Address Now for W-2 Form Distribution

    As the end of 2017 approaches, it is important to have your current address on file for W-2 Tax Form distribution. In late January 2018, your 2017 W-2 Form will be sent via U.S. mail to your mailing address as listed in the MyUW portal. Make sure your W-2 Form is sent to your preferred address by logging in to the MyUW portal at my.wisc.edu and updating your address as needed in the “Personal Information” module. Please update your address by January 5, 2018.

  • Thrive@UW–Madison Courses Now Open

    Several Thrive@UW–Madison course offerings are now available for Spring 2018, including a new course, “Expanding Self-Knowledge to Adapt and Thrive.” Through these courses, individuals develop the knowledge and skills they need to contribute effectively to healthy, inclusive, engaging work environments. There are no pre-requisites, and courses may be taken in any sequence. This learning opportunity is free and open to all UW–Madison faculty and staff.   • Office 365 Available at No Cost for Work and Home

    Office 365 is a suite of tools provided to UW–Madison students, faculty and staff. It offers a variety of free tools that will help you stay organized, be more productive, and collaborate with others. Some of the most popular features are email with integrated calendar, and Microsoft Office, which includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote. Office 365 can be downloaded to your device or used online via the web.

  • Preparing for D2L and Moodle Retirement

    UW–Madison is entering the final stages of migrating to Canvas as the single, centrally supported learning management system. All credit and noncredit courses (with a few exceptions that have been communicated separately to those affected) can move to Canvas and need to do so prior to June 1, 2018. Starting on that date, users will no longer have direct access to D2L and Moodle. To prepare, faculty and instructors should make sure they have everything they need out of the retiring systems.

  • Website Addresses Hostile and Intimidating Behavior

    Faculty and staff members at UW–Madison now have a new online resource to help identify and address instances of hostile and intimidating behavior (HIB) on campus. The new website includes a definition of hostile and intimidating behavior, sometimes known as “bullying,” as well as information about what to do to prevent it and ways to address it when it happens. On-campus resources include offices that offer advice, consultation, and support, as well as translation and interpretation services. Hostile and intimidating behavior is prohibited by university policy. The website can be found at hr.wisc.edu/hib.

  • Late Night Diversity Forum Rescheduled for Dec. 13

    The Diversity Forum originally announced for December 4 has been rescheduled, and will now be held Wednesday, Dec. 13 from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. in the Concerto Room at the Gordon Dining and Event Center. This session is intended for UW–Madison employees who work second and third shifts, although all UW–Madison employees are welcome to attend. A meal will be provided at 12:15 a.m. The forum will cover a variety of topics, including diversity and inclusion efforts at UW–Madison, campus climate survey results, recognizing bias, and disrupting hostile and intimidating behaviors. Employees can attend without loss of pay and pre-registration is not required. Please notify your supervisor if you plan to attend. Interpretation services will be available for those whose preferred language is Spanish, Hmong, Tibetan, or Chinese.

    Thursday, Nov. 30, is the last day to contribute to this year’s Partners in Giving campaign.   • Upcoming Deadline for Blend@UW Sessions

    Applications are currently being accepted for the winter sessions of Blend@UW. The four-day sessions, offered at no cost, are scheduled for January 9–12 and January 16–19, 2018. Apply by Friday, Dec. 15 to reserve your spot. Past participants report 100 percent satisfaction with the program, which helps instructors develop a course map and evaluation plan for blended-learning courses.
