  • Event welcomes new academic staff in instructional roles

    A Teaching and Learning Welcome will be held on Tuesday, August 27, 10 a.m.–2 p.m. at the Pyle Center. The event is designed for individuals who have recently started new instructional roles and are classified as academic staff. Participants will learn about campus resources and connect with other instructors, instructional support offices, and leadership. Featured speakers include Provost Charles Lee Isbell, Jr., Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Lori Reesor, and others. This event is offered at no cost; online registration is requested.

    Career Development@UW is a virtual learning series that can empower employees to take charge of their careers and explore opportunities for growth within UW–Madison. Professional Development with the 70–20–10 Model is scheduled for Thursday, August 22, noon–1 p.m. Participants will learn about the 70-20-10 model and how it relates to professional development on campus.   • Webinar teaches mindfulness skills to enhance well-being

    LifeMatters and the Employee Assistance Office are offering a virtual webinar, Mind-Body Wellness, on Tuesday, Aug. 27, noon‒1 p.m. Attendees will explore the difference between control and letting go and learn how to practice mindfulness, guided relaxation, conscious breathing, and gentle stretching.   • Remote Work policy and agreement updated

    The UW–Madison Remote Work policy and Remote Work Agreement form have been updated effective August 1, 2024. Employees working remotely who have not completed a new agreement for the new fiscal year (July 1–June 30) are required to submit a new agreement. The deadline for submitting your Remote Work Agreement is Oct. 1, 2024. Going forward, employees working remotely will need to submit a new form at the start of each fiscal year (July 1–June 30). Additional details, including instructions on how to complete a Remote Work Agreement, can be found at hr.wisc.edu/remote-work. If you have questions, speak with your supervisor or your human resources contact.

  • Registration open for Institute on Aging Annual Colloquium

    The UW–Madison Institute on Aging (IOA) is hosting the 34th IOA Annual Colloquium on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 8:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m., at the Gordon Dining and Event Center. The event showcases the latest research on diverse aspects of aging and provides resources for positive aging. Features include speaker presentations, poster exhibits, and a Health and Resource Fair.   • Preparing for Election Day

    Election Day for the 2024 Partisan Primary is Tuesday, Aug. 13. The website My Vote Wisconsin at myvote.wi.gov can help you find your polling place and learn what is on your ballot. You can also find information on early voting (also called in-person absentee voting or IPAV). If you are not yet registered to vote, you can register at your municipal clerk’s office through Friday, Aug. 9, or at your polling place on Election Day, Aug. 13. The UW–Madison policy regarding Leave for Voting or Serving as an Election Official can be found in the policy library; please speak with your human resources contact if you have questions.

  • Bus pass and parking permit update from Transportation Services

    Employee bus passes and afternoon, night, moped, and motorcycle parking permits for the 2024‒25 year will be available to purchase starting August 1 at transportation.wisc.edu/ebusiness (the Transportation Services eBusiness portal) or at a Transportation Services office.   • Leadership and Management Development Conference call for proposals

    Learning and Talent Development is hosting the annual Leadership and Management Development Conference in person at Union South on Tuesday, Oct. 29. The conference provides emerging and advanced leaders, as well as those who are not in a direct leadership position, with professional development to enhance their skills and manage more effectively. Proposals are invited from speakers who are interested in sharing their expertise and experiences with conference participants during 75-minute breakout sessions. Breakout sessions can be workshops, panel discussions, or lectures. Criteria for successful proposals and possible topics are available on the conference website. Proposals are due August 6. Registration for the conference is also open; the fee is $135 for UW employees and affiliates.
