  • Office Professionals Conference Call for Proposals

    The 29th Annual Office Professionals Conference will take place on Wednesday, April 24, 8 a.m.–3:30 p.m. at Union South. Those who wish to present at the conference are invited to submit session proposals by Friday, Feb. 15. Conference organizers are seeking proposals on these topics: building influence, campus resources, relationship building, workplace skills, wellness, and engagement, inclusion, and diversity. Registration is also open for the conference, which offers UW–Madison employees skill building, networking, and practical tools for personal enrichment and professional development. Early bird registration is $100 for those who register and pay by February 15.

  • Regents' Academic Staff Excellence Awards Nominations Due

    Nominations are now being accepted for the 2019 Regents’ Academic Staff Excellence Awards. These awards recognize non-instructional academic staff. Across UW System, there will be two individual recipients, and a third award to honor an outstanding program. The awards will be presented at the June 7, 2019 meeting of the Board of Regents. Awards criteria and nomination guidelines are available online. All nomination materials should be submitted through the application website. If you have questions, please contact Jake Smith at pdrc@soas.wisc.edu or 263-2985. The deadline for submissions is Friday, Feb. 8.

  • Hazardous Weather Discount on Overnight Stays

    The Lowell Center, Fluno Center, and Wisconsin Union Hotel all offer a discounted rate on overnight accommodations to UW–Madison employees when winter travel may be dangerous due to road conditions or bitterly cold temperatures. Rooms are subject to availability. Proof of UW employment will be requested.   • How to Earn Your $150 Well Wisconsin Incentive

    Employers, retirees, and their spouses currently enrolled in the State Group Health Insurance plan are eligible for an annual $150 wellness incentive. In order to earn the incentive, participants must complete a health screening, the StayWell health assessment, and one Well Wisconsin well-being activity. A new activity this year is the Sleep Well Challenge. Create or log into your account to schedule an onsite health screening and complete your health assessment, or call the StayWell Helpline if you do not have access to a computer.   • W-2 Statements Now Online

    The 2018 W-2 Wage and Tax Statements are now available online in MyUW at my.wisc.edu. Launch the Payroll Information module and click on the Tax Statements tab. Paper copies of the W-2 are being mailed by January 31, 2019. Employees who elected “electronic consent only” by January 11, 2019 will not receive a paper copy in the mail. Some employees will receive additional tax forms from the university.

  • Celebrate Women's History Month

    Mark your calendar now for a celebration of Women’s History Month, Friday, March 15, 11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. at DeJope Residence Hall (Lake Mendota Room). A keynote by State Representative Melissa Sargent will be followed by a cultural presentation. Hot food will be served. The event is free and open to the public; no reservations are required. UW–Madison employees may attend without loss of pay. The event is sponsored by the Campus Workers Collective.

  • Student Employee of the Year Nominations Open

    The Offices of Student Financial Aid and Student Employment are hosting a campus-wide Student Employee of the Year competition for the first time this year. The top three winners will receive scholarships, and the first-place winner will go on to compete for the Midwest Regional Student Employee of the Year. Students must be nominated by their supervisors to be eligible for the award. A committee consisting of supervisors and other student-employment stakeholders across campus will select the winners. More information on the judging criteria and submission requirements can be found on the Student Jobs website at studentjobs.wisc.edu. Nominations should be submitted by February 17.   • Registration Open for Employee Career Conference

    UW–Madison employees are encouraged to develop lifelong career management skills by attending “Construct Your Career at UW,” the UW–Madison Employee Career Conference, on Thursday, March 7, 8:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m. at Union South. The free conference is designed to help employees explore their career paths while remaining employed at UW–Madison. Attendees may come and go throughout the day based on their interests and schedules. The registration deadline is February 22.   • Save the Date for Showcase

    The 20th annual Showcase, hosted by the Office of Strategic Consulting, will take place on the morning of Wednesday, April 17 at Union South. The event is an opportunity for UW–Madison faculty and staff to share their successes, learn from others’ experiences, and connect with each other. All members of the campus community are welcome to attend. Anyone who wishes to highlight an improvement, innovation, or best practice at Showcase is invited to create a poster about the experience. Those who are considering bringing a poster should fill out the Poster Exhibit Interest Questionnaire no later than March 10.

    DoIT Academic Technology is offering multiple sessions to help instructors use Canvas to engage students, manage course materials, track grades, and more. “Technical Trainings” offer practical and efficient ways to use Canvas in a traditional training format. In the “Teaching Effectively in Canvas” sessions, participants learn about the experiences of fellow UW–Madison instructors, explore ways to connect with learning principles, and consider how to design personalized, interactive learning experiences.
