  • Showcase 2022 Call for Proposals

    The Office of Strategic Consulting will be hosting the 22nd annual Showcase event on Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at Union South. This free, day-long event brings together campus colleagues to share best practices, learn from each other’s successes, and connect. Proposals are now being accepted for 50- and 75-minute breakout sessions on topics related to organizational effectiveness. Presenters have the option of offering their session in person or via livestream. Suggested topics and evaluation criteria are available on the Showcase 2022 website. Proposals should be submitted by Tuesday, Dec. 7.

  • Campus Inclement Weather Guidelines

    As winter weather approaches, employees are encouraged to review the campus inclement weather guidelines. The chancellor is responsible for determining if classes will be canceled or postponed or some university services suspended due to inclement weather. Colleges, schools and other campus units will not close on their own. Employees should use discretion regarding whether they can safely travel to work and request leave if needed.   • Changes to 403(b) Program Explained

    The UW 403(b) Supplemental Retirement Program (SRP), formerly the Tax-Sheltered Annuity 403(b) Program, is a voluntary supplemental retirement savings plan managed by the UW System and an advisory committee specifically for UW System employees. Changes and enhancements to the program are now being implemented. The new recordkeepers for the UW 403(b) Supplemental Retirement Program (UW 403(b) SRP) are TIAA and Fidelity. The investment line-up has also been updated. An upcoming virtual Town Hall on November 15, 11 a.m.–noon, will review changes participants may want to make before 2022.

  • Appreciation Event for Second and Third Shift Staff on November 17

    “Celebrating Our Community: A late-night event for second and third shift staff” will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 17, 11 p.m. to 1 a.m., at Union South. The event will include a welcome from campus leaders, a buffet meal, and a visit from Bucky Badger. All second and third shift employees are encouraged to attend. Employees should notify their supervisor if they plan to attend. The event is co-sponsored by the DDEEA and the VCFA. Event information is available in multiple languages at go.wisc.edu/a57725.

  • Employees Encouraged to Self-Report Demographic Information

    Recently, UW System sent an email encouraging all employees to report or update self-identification information (race, ethnicity, disability status, and veteran status). This information can be updated at any time by using the Personal Information application in MyUW. The information is confidential and will not be kept in employment files or records. Submission of this information is voluntary. This information helps ensure that UW–Madison has the most up-to-date and accurate information for reporting and analysis in accordance with federal laws and regulations.   • TTC Publishes New Salary Structure

    On November 1, the university published a new salary structure for academic staff, university staff, and limited appointees based on pay rates for similar positions in peer institutions. As a result of the Title and Total Compensation (TTC) Project, the university has a consistent title structure, making it possible to create an interactive job library for all employees. The Title and Standard Job Description (SJD) Library has been updated to include salary ranges and titles for all jobs at UW–Madison. For the first time, employees can search the library and filter jobs by the job group, subgroup, salary, employee category or title. For more information visit go.wisc.edu/ttcproject.

  • Register for the ATP Status Update

    All faculty and staff are invited to attend the Administrative Transformation Program’s next virtual Status Update on Wednesday, Nov. 10 at 10 a.m. ATP is a multiyear program that will rebuild the processes, policies, and technology used to manage our financial, research administration, and human resources operations across the UW System. Please register by November 5.

  • Finalists Chosen for Associate Vice Chancellor for FP&M

    Five finalists for the next associate vice chancellor for Facilities Planning and Management have been selected for on-campus interviews and presentations. All presentations will be posted after November 10, and an online candidate feedback form will be available on the search webpage. There are three more opportunities to hear from these candidates next week. The application materials for the first two candidates are available online, and the application materials for the remaining candidates will be posted at the end of this week. All members of the campus community are invited to participate in the public presentations.

  • New Resource Supports Career Development

    A new Career Development Community of Practice (CoP) is being launched by Adult Career and Special Student Services. The CoP will provide employees with an opportunity to share information, resources, and experiences related to careers. Any UW–Madison employee interested in further developing their career path or growing within their current position is welcome to participate. A kickoff meeting of the new Career Development CoP will be held virtually via Zoom on Tuesday, Nov. 16, from noon–1:30 p.m. Registration is requested.

  • Employee Letters Will Provide New Salary Ranges

    By November 1, academic staff, university staff, and limited appointees will receive a letter that will confirm their job title and new salary range. The letter will have a website link to the university’s new market-informed salary structure that will be published on November 1. These changes are a result of the Title and Total Compensation Project. If an employee’s current salary is below their new salary range, they will receive a pay increase effective November 7, 2021, to the minimum of their salary range.
